Falcons trip up Finlandia men

HANCOCK – The Finlandia men’s hockey team outshot MCHA opponent Concordia (Wis.) and carried a 2-1 lead into the third period Friday night, but couldn’t make it stick as Concordia netted twice in a span of three minutes to take down the Lions 3-2.

The penalty kill failed FU as Concordia scored twice in four power play attempts, including the game-winner from Cody Kostecki, his second of the game,

Trailing 1-0 after the first period, Finlandia outplayed Concordia in the second frame with Collin Saint-Onge scoring his ninth of the year to tie it up, and then assisting Sean Burke six minutes later to give FU a slim lead.

Troy Chandler got the start in net for the Lions, saving 23 of 26 attempts.

Finlandia is now 3-11 this season as Concordia improved to 5-9.
