E-TC girls put away Dollar Bay

EWEN – Dollar Bay fended off Ewen-Trout Creek’s first run but not its second, as the Panthers took a 49-22 non-league girls’ basketball win Wednesday.

E-TC opened the game up 9-0, but Dollar Bay clawed back to within two at the end of the first quarter and trailed just 22-17 at halftime.

After the break, it was all E-TC, as the Panthers allowed only five second-half points, three coming on a late Julia Daavettila triple.

E-TC’s pressure led to easy baskets and a 48-percent success rate from the field in the second half.

Brittany Suomumaki led all scorers with 12 points plus eight rebounds and six steals. Zoey McGeshick added 11.

E-TC (9-6) hosts Watersmeet in a battle of Porcupine Mountain Conference unbeatens tonight.

Dollar Bay (3-10), led by Daavettila’s 10 points, is off until it plays at Watersmeet Monday.
