LAKE LINDEN – Irene Schnotala, 85, of Lake Linden, passed away Feb. 7, 2013, at Houghton County Medical Care Facility after a short illness.
She was born Jan. 15, 1928, a daughter of Arthur and Mary Louise Baril. She attended Lake Linden parochial schools and graduated from Lake Linden- Hubbell High School.
Irene was married to Robert Schnotala on June 28, 1947. He passed away on Oct. 12, 1993.
Irene was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden. She was a wife, mother and friend.

She is survived by two sons, Dennis (Sharon) of Des Moines, Iowa and Donald of Burnsville, Minn.; three daughters, Mary (Tom) Gestrich of Germantown, Tenn., Barbara (Scott) Manthei of Alexandria, Minn. and Karen (John) Tiberg of Green Bay; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two sisters and three brothers, Florence Murn, Reuben Baril, Edward “Jim” Baril, Doris Julio, Urban “Tibby” Baril; special friend, Arlene Stevens; and nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden with Fr. Francis Dobrzenski to officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday in the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with a parish prayer service at 7:30. Burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
