GREEN BAY, Wis. -Mary Riedel, 65, of Green Bay, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, while on a cruise with her husband in Honduras.
The daughter of the late Faye and Mildred (Rappana) Balcom was born Dec. 21, 1947, in Calumet.
On Nov. 25, 1967, she married Norman Riedel in Calumet. The couple moved to Green Bay where she was employed by Shopko for 25 years.
Mary enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and quilting and spending time with friends at church and on Facebook. She loved her family and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her husband, Norman of Green Bay; two daughters and one son, Lisa (Jim) Balkowski of West Bend, Linda (Ross) Robinson of Bulverde, Texas and Gordon (Dawn) Riedel of West Bend; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Sara, Jacob, Michael, Ryan, Alli, Kyle and Lucas; one sister, Sherry (Ken) Nordstrom of Fulton; one brother-in-law, Ray Nelson of Calumet; one sister-in-law, Marlene Wiley of Green Bay; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother and sister-in-law, George “Butch” (Robin) Rappana; two sisters, Rose Nelson and Bonnie Zdnowski.
Friends may call at Peace Lutheran Church, 1954 Co. U. Kunesh (Green Bay) from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday with funeral services to follow. Pastor Don Behrendt will officiate. Burial will take place in Kunesh Cemetery in the spring.
