CALUMET – Michael Danis, 63, a resident of Park Ave. apartments in Calumet, passed away on Monday, Feb. 12, 2013.
He was born on Dec. 8, 1949, in Calumet, a son of the late Henry and Sally (Pietila) Danis.
He graduated from Calumet High School with the class of 1969.
On Feb. 23, 1980, he was married to Carolyn Barkell.
Michael was employed for various area businesses, most recently Mariner North Restaurant.
He was an avid sports fan, enjoying watching the Detroit Tigers, Lions and Red Wings. In his younger years he played and later coached baseball. He also enjoyed fishing.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother Thomas Danis.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn; four children, Jennifer (Paul Kilpela) Danis of Calumet, Lindsay Danis of Calumet, Christopher (Natalie) Danis of Champaign, Ill., Kevin (Rebecca) Danis of Vandenberg AFB in California; a grandson, Landon Shemenkowski of Calumet; sisters, Michele (Rodney) Grisolono of Laurium, Lorraine (Paul) Macomber of Allouez, Charmaine (Larry) Kolasa of Chesterfield Township, Mich., Diane (Robert) Long of Calumet; brothers, James (Peggy) Danis of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Larry Danis of Laurium.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet with Rev. Bob White to officiate.
Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet on Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m.
