Arne Ronald Robert Jussila

BRUSH PRAIRIE, WASH. – For Arne Ronald Robert Jussila, 79, joy came in the morning on Feb. 5, 2013, at his home in Brush Prairie, Wash., where he resided for 40 years. He was born May 23, 1933, on Triangle Ranch, in Amasa, Mich. For the last three years, partially paralyzed by a stroke, he was lovingly cared for at his home by his wife, Juanita and daughter, Eva.

As a young lad, Arne’s father moved the family to Detroit. A few years were spent there, ending when his father met with an untimely death. Subsequently, his widowed mother moved her three children to Crystal Falls, where they lived together on the Jussila farm. Around this time he became known to his family as “Ronny”. Eventually, moving to Calumet, Arne graduated from Calumet High School. At that time, he said “Uncle Sam drafted him to The United States Army,” and often stated that he served for “one year 11 months and 15 days.” He continued serving stateside in The Reserves for six more years, during which time the last four were spent sailing The Great Lakes on the iron ore carriers. While in the service he learned his lifelong trade of heavy equipment operating. It was said, what most men needed to do with a grader, Arne would do better with his bulldozer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arnie Jussila Sr.; mother, Lillian (Kangas) Jussila Wolfe; stepfather, William Wolfe; first wife, Ruth (Somero) Jussila; sister, Shirlee Infurna; and twin sons, Joseph and Reuben.
