Bruce J. Carlson

CALUMET – Bruce J. Carlson, 80, a resident of Calumet, passed away early Tuesday morning at Marquette General Hospital.

He was born Aug. 15, 1932, in Hancock, a son of the late Raymond and Gertrude (Sederholm) Carlson. Bruce attended the local schools and graduated from Michigan Technological University with a bachelor’s degree in mining engineering. He then went to work at Ingersol Rand in Pennsylvania.

Bruce was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army.

On April 5, 1985, he married the former Nancy Pelto. She preceded him in death in October 2009.

Also preceding him in death was a brother, Raymond Carlson.

Bruce is survived by a son, Russell (Allie) Carlson of Bradenton, Fla.; grandson, David Carlson of Yuma Valley, Ariz.; brother, Robert (Carol) Carlson of Calumet; an adopted daughter, Jessica Mitchell of Atlanta, Ga.; granddaughter, Alicia Heikell of Calumet and her son, Xavier; his wife’s daughter, Lynn Heikell of Atlanta, Ga.

At Bruce’s request, cremation will take place. Burial will be in the Waasa Cemetery.
