FULTON – Edwin “Andy” Anderson, 91, of Fulton Location/Mohawk died Friday, Mar. 22, 2013, at his home.
He was born in Gay, Mich., on Jan. 9, 1922, son of John and Elma Ellen (Lyytikainen) Anderson and attended the Gay School and graduated from the Lake Linden High School in 1940.
Andy was united in marriage to Ruth “Kai” Kaikkonen of Fulton on Feb 5, 1944.
Andy was involved in the logging industry all his life and was an experienced excavator.
He was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Fulton, the American Legion Clyde Johnson Post of Mohawk and served on the Keweenaw Housing Commission.
Preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers, Hubert, Norman, Wesley, and Waino; and two sisters, Lila and Doris.
Surviving are his wife, “Kai” of Fulton; one daughter, Cheryl (Wesley) Kangas of Mohawk; two sons, Craig (Rene’) Anderson of LaCrescent, Minn., and Curt (Trudy) Anderson of Laurium; two brothers, Paul of Atlantic Mine, and Reuben of Mohawk; twenty grandchildren; forty nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral service for Mr. Anderson will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the First Apostolic Lutheran Church in Calumet with David Taivalkoski officiating. Spring burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet. Friends may call at the Calumet Church on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet is assisting the family.
