WHITMORE LAKE – Vernon Oja, 83, a resident of Whitmore Lake passed away on April 25, 2013.
He was born on May 12, 1929, in Mohawk, a son of the late William and Lois Oja.
Vernon attended the Mohawk School before moving with his family to Detroit. He lived all of his adult life in Detroit.
He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.
Surviving are brothers and sisters, Betty (Bill) Lehto, Joyce Lishinski, Wendell Oja, Melvin Oja and Frances Fiori; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013, in the Erickson-Crowley-Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet with the Rev D.J. Rasner to officiate.
Friends may call at the Erickson-Crowley-Peterson Funeral home from 1-2 p.m. Friday.
Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery Veterans section.
