CALUMET – Arthur “Budd” Hagman, 85, a resident of Calumet, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium.
He was born on Oct. 28, 1927, in Gay, a son of the late Arthur A. and Waldina (Sturos) Hagman.
Budd attended Calumet High School until the 11th grade when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, he later graduated from Calumet High School with the class of 1947. He was recalled from the Naval Reserves and served in the Korean War.
On June 11, 1949, he was married to the former Dolores Davies and she preceded him in death on April 5, 1997.
Budd had several different jobs over the years most notably was working as a security officer for C & H, a deputy for the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department, Laurium and Lake Linden policeman, Houghton County Probate Court as a juvenile probation officer and as the airport manager at Houghton County Memorial Airport for 18 years until his retirement in 1986. In his retirement years Budd worked for Wisti & Jaaskelainen, loved spending time at the hunting camp in Central and fishing on Lake Superior.
He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, 67 year member of American Legion Post 230 of Mohawk, the past president of Copper Country Law Enforcement Association for four years and served as President of the Michigan Association of Airport Executives.
Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Alan; grandsons, Kyle and Jason Krans; sisters, Lenore Enrietti and Dorothy Baccus; brother-in-laws, Robert Baccus and William Niemela.
Surviving are two daughters, Beverly (Larry) Williams of Texas and Sharon (Jon) Koskiniemi of Laurium; grandson, Barry (Rita) Krans of Calumet; and great grandchildren, Aryana, Dylan and Carter; great grandson, Nickolas Walters; sisters, Norma Niemela of Laurium and Margaret (Bob) Ashcraft of Livonia, Mich.; brother-in- law, Joe(Babe) Enrietti; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013, in the Faith Lutheran Church in Calumet with Rev. Peter Vorhes to officiate.
Friends may call at the Erickson-Crowley-Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the funeral.
Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
