Michael Wesley Wisti
MASON, Mich. – Michael Wesley Wisti, 73, died November 27, 2012.
He was born June 20, 1939, in Chassell to William and Hilda (Lantto) Wisti. Michael graduated from Chassell High School in 1956 and was a member of the Chassell Panthers Class D State Champion Boys’ basketball team.
He graduated from Michigan Technological University with a degree in metallurgical engineering in 1960. He earned his master’s and doctorate degrees in Metallurgy from Michigan State University in 1975.
Michael served his country in the United States National Guard.
He co-founded Atmosphere Annealing, Inc. in 1978, serving as company president until his retirement in 1999.
Michael liked to work in the garden, enjoyed sports and was a committed supporter of progresive ideals.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Andrew Wisti; sister-in-law, Irene (Aho) Wisti; brother-in-law, William Brown.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lori (Chapman) Wisti; two sons, Michael William Wisti and partner Norah Labiner and Leif (Jodi) Wisti; beloved grandchildren, Lydia and Henry Wisti; brothers, Theodore Wisti and Gordon (Edith) Wisti; sister-in-law, Ruth Wisti; sister Marion (Wisti) Brown; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were on Monday, December 3, 2012, in the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013 in the Chassell Cemetery with Rev. D.J. Rasner to officiate.
