Softball starts with split for Downtowner 2

HOUGHTON – The 2013 Copper Country men’s slowpitch league season opened Monday and among the results was a split for Downtowner 2.

DT2 took a 15-10 win over Nutini’s Supper Club, as six players added two hits apiece. Erik Nettell homered.

In the other game, Pat’s Foods defeated DT2 29-22.

For the winners, Logan Rastello and Tony Carley were among players with four hits. Carley homered.

Chris Koory had a three-hit night with a double, while three doubles were among Rastello’s hits.

For DT2, Pete Pelissero went 4-for-4, while Dave Usitalo and Nettell posted three hits.

American Legion Post 90 topped Osmose/Erickson-Crowley-Peterson 31-16.

No stats were available for the winners, but Jeff Miller went 4-for-4 for Osmose/Erickson-Crowley-Peterson. Alex Kalcich, Josh Isaac, Jon Brueggeman and Andy Bourdeau had three hits, with Brueggeman hitting a pair of triples.
