One-run win helps Bucko’s/Labatt’s split
HOUGHTON – In a tie game, Bucko’s/Labatt’s picked up seven runs in the last inning and Team 7 had six, the difference in a 27-26 Copper Country men’s slowpitch league decision at Hancock Driving Park.
Bucko’s/Labatt’s overcame the loss of a 15-2 lead after two innings.
Nate McMullen went 4-for-5 and doubled twice to lead the winners, while Matt Kilpela, Chris Benson, George VanDenburg, Charlie Kemppainen and Aron Butkovich all had two hits apiece.
Earlier, Bucko’s/Labatt’s dropped a tight 12-10 decision to McGann’s/Northern Auto.
Brian Juopperi and Russ Koski had three-hit games for the victors, while the Bucko’s/Labatt’s offense was led by two-hit outings by James Benson, VanDenburg and Butkovich.
American Legion Post 90 dumped Nutini’s 15-5 behind three hits from Allen Klutts and Bill Bastion. Klutts finished a home run short of the cycle. Five players had two hits for Post 90.
Pat’s Foods stopped Rippa Products 12-9. Seven Pat’s players had two hits apiece, with a triple from Logan Rastello. For Rippa, Jared Loukus went 3-for-5 with a triple and Shawn MacDonald was 3-for-4 with a double.
Downtowner 2 racked up 34 hits in a 44-25 slugfest with Osmose/Erickson-Crowley.
Pete Pelissero and Jeff Lipari-Jordan posted six hits apiece, with Tim Korby and Tim Engman adding five. Erik Nettell hit one of DT2’s two homers.
