Pat’s gets off to big start, beats BlueSky
DOLLAR BAY – Pat’s Foods racked up six runs in the first inning and rolled to a 10-5 victory over BlueSky Health in Twilight League play Tuesday.
Though the hosts tightened things up after the outburst, scoring twice in the bottom of the first and three times in the third to get within 7-5, Pat’s earned insurance runs in the next two innings to extend its margin.
Pat’s is now 1-0 after its season opener last Thursday vs. L’Anse was suspended by a downpour.
The winners got a 3-for-5 day from starting pitcher Zach Hill. Hill also drove in three runs to aid his own cause. On the mound, Hill went four innings and allowed four earned runs on three hits. He struck out five and walked four.
Lee Naugle gave up two hits over the last three innings for the save.
Andrew Ewer doubled, finished with two hits and had two RBIs for Pat’s, while C.J. Lepisto reached base in four of his five trips with the help of three walks.
Pat’s plays at Stanton Thursday, while BlueSky hosts L’Anse.
