Mary Lee Teare
CHELSEA – Mary Lee Teare, 91, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013, surrounded by loving family.
She was born October 20, 1921, in Marietta, Ohio, to Lloyd and Gladys (Stowe) Devol. She grew up in Ohio, South Dakota, Ann Arbor & Ypsilanti, Mich. On December 7, 1938, she married Merton C. Teare who preceded her in death in 1996, after 57 years of marriage. Also preceding her in death was her sister, Martha Ann Hunt.
She is survived by her son Daniel (Sue) Teare of Chelsea, Mich., and daughter, Karen (Stephen) Jones of Royal Oak, Mich.; five grandchildren, David Teare, Sarah Teare, Jennifer (Scott) Peterson, Linda (Jeremy) Dostie, and Michael (Patricia) Jones; eight great-grandchildren, Caleb, Luke, and Abigail Peterson; Kylie, Stephanie, and Spencer Jones; Grace and Charlotte Dostie; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was active in the Dexter United Methodist Church. Her interests included watching birds and enjoying nature, reading, crafting with driftwood, and keeping tabs on family. She loved her northern Michigan cabin at Agate Harbor where she spent the past 56 summers. She appreciated the many friends she had.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. (visitation beginning at 10 a.m.) Friday, June 7, at Dexter United Methodist Church with Rev. Stephen Bringardner officiating. Visitation will be at 4 -7 p.m. Thursday, June 6 in the Church. Inurnment will follow at a later date in Eagle Harbor.
