Home run hitters all over slowpitch league
HANCOCK – D.J. Coponen hit two home runs and was one of five on his team to have a four-hit game as Miller’s Lanes/The Edge/906 Enterprises edged Monte Carlo 18-17 in Copper Country Men’s Slowpitch League play at Hancock Driving Park.
Rod Barnes, Dan Eikenberry, Jim Perron and Derek Poyhonen also had four hits. Randy Perron and Bill Laurn added three.
McGann’s/Northern Auto scored 11 times in the first inning and downed Downtowner 2 21-6.
Jason Koski homered three times in five at-bats and had four hits in total. Josh Frantti had a homer and a double in a 5-for-5 game. Brian Juopperi, David Wesa, Phil Koski and Phil Pietila all had three hits.
For DT2, Erik Nettell homered and Tim Engman and Dave Usitalo had three hits apiece.
Bucko’s/Labatt’s finished strong with a pair of 11-run innings in a 33-8 rout of Osmose/Erickson-Crowley-Peterson.
George VanDenburg and Nate McMullen both hit a pair of homers for the winners and four players recorded four hits: Kevin Tormala, Aron Butkovich, McMullen and Jay Bies.
For Osmose/Erickson-Crowley-Peterson, Hans Klein went 3-for-3.
Bucko’s/Labatt’s finished off the sweep with a 25-17 win over Pat’s Foods.
Jordan Johnson went 5-for-6 for Bucko’s/Labatt’s, while James Benson, Charlie Kemppainen, VanDenburg and Butkovich all had four hits.
For Pat’s, Logan Rastello went 4-for-5, while Henry Barson, Jake Frisk, Jace Fritzler and Ryan Gerbig notched three apiece.
