All-Star roster has nine locals

MARQUETTE – Final rosters have been released for the sixth annual U.P. All-Star Football Game, to take place June 29 at the Superior Dome in Marquette.

The West team, looking to end a four-game losing streak in the event, will have nine participants.

Calumet will have the most representatives, with four: Anders Bjorn, Clark Kangas, Owen Kariniemi and Kyle Larson.

Five other local programs will have one representative apiece: Cody Goldsworthy of L’Anse, Alex Knight of Lake Linden-Hubbell, Logan Maki of Ewen-Trout Creek, Ross Michaels of Hancock and Seth Rowles of Ontonagon.

The West team will be coached by North Dickinson’s Joe Reddinger and assistants from North Dickinson, Kingsford, Stephenson and Menominee.

A series of activities are planned throughout the week for players and coaches, including a skills challenge, a visit to Bay Cliff Health Camp and the annual All-Star Banquet with guest speaker and Ishpeming head coach (and East All-Stars head coach) Jeff Olson.

There will be three youth football games played in the Dome the day of the event at 8:30, 10:15 and noon.
