McGann’s/Northern Auto brings lumber

HOUGHTON – All but one player in the McGann’s/Northern Auto lineup had multiple hits Monday as they rolled past Pat’s Foods 27-5 in Copper Country men’s slowpitch play.

The leading hitter for McGann’s/Northern Auto was David Wesa, who went 4-for-4 with a triple.

The winners got homers from Steve Aho, Brian Juopperi and Josh Frantti. Aho, Frantti and Craig Koski had three-hit games.

For Pat’s, Adam Hayrynen was 2-for-2 with a triple.

Downtowner 2 notched the rare shutout Monday, blanking Rippa Products 15-0.

Tim Engman, Dave Usitalo and Scott Hall all had four hits in the win, while Erik Nettell had three.

American Legion Post 90 surged down the stretch, turning an 8-7 deficit after five innings into a confldent 22-10 win over Monte Carlo.

Bill Bastion went 5-for-6 including a triple and a pair of doubles. Kevin LaRoux tripled among his four hits and Travis McMillan also had a four-hit night.

Team 7 rapped out 38 runs for a 38-16 win over Miller’s Lanes/The Edge/906 Enterprises.

No stats were available for the winners, but eight players had three hits for Miller’s, including a homer for Derek Poyhonen.
