Pat’s beats Matt’s in see-saw battle

HANCOCK – After six lead changes, Pat’s Foods outlasted Matt’s Auto Glass 7-6 in Portage Lake Little League Major (age 11-12) baseball play at Hancock Driving Park Tuesday.

Jackson Rocchi delivered the winning hit, his third of the game, for two RBIs in the bottom of the fifth.

Matt’s claimed an early 3-0 lead after hits by Ashton Janke, Bret Massie, Evan Larson and Lars Massie, but Pat’s responded with four in the second inning, including a two-run single by Rocchi and an RBI single from Ivan Crist.

Janke put Matt’s back in the lead with an RBI double in the top of the fifth, but Pat’s drew three walks in the bottom of the inning before Rocchi’s big hit.

Alex Nordstrom got the final three outs for the save. Pat’s is 6-1 in league play and 9-3 overall.

In the other PLLL Major game Tuesday, Team Wireless scored three times in the top of the sixth inning and beat Portage Health Sports Medicine 8-5.

Kevin Bostwick was the winning pitcher and had three hits.
