Hill hurls no-hitter for perfect J. Peltier

HOUGHTON – J. Peltier Construction pitcher Davin Hill threw a four-inning no-hitter in a 10-0 Minor (age 9-10) baseball win over Thrivent Financial in Stanton Wednesday night.

Hill struck out seven and didn’t walk a batter. The only baserunner he allowed was on a first-inning error.

Hill also had a big day offensively, with a single, a triple and a home run. He drove in three in the first inning with his homer, then cleared the bases with a triple in the fourth.

At Hancock, Calumet Elks outslugged Kissel Chevrolet 17-11.

Colin Cowell, Nate Hiller, Donovan Dueweke and Tyler Melvig had multi-hit games.

McKenna Foster pitched three innings, allowing two runs, and had a clutch bases-clearing triple to break the game open in the fifth inning.

For Kissel, Kyle Maki and Tanner Larson had multiple hits.

In Minor softball, Favorites edged Pat’s Foods 3-2.

Gabrielle Mukavetz tied the game in the fourth inning with a solo homer and Isabelle Cleary drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in Claire Isacson with the eventual winning run.

Cleary and Mukavetz combined on pitching duties for Favorites.
