Edward William King
CLINTON TOWNSHIP – Edward William “Eddy” King passed away June 15, 2013, in Clinton Township, Mich. Eddy was born July 10, 1946, to Edward and Esther King in Baraga. He spent most of his adult life in the Oakland County area where he had a 40-plus year career as a tool maker. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, watching all of the Detroit sports teams, working on cars and fixing everything!
Eddy leaves his loving wife of 33 years, Linda B. King (Madjoff) and his five children; Tammy (Mike) Lampinen, Dawn (Keith Cruickshank) Ferguson, Suzi (Tim) Yax, Bryan (Kelly Kramer) King and Kevin (Paul Maynard) King; his siblings, Edie (Bob) Parks, George King, Kenny (Shirley) King, Ruthann (Mike) Scott; brothers-in-law, Chuck (Joan) Madjoff and Dave (Darlene) Madjoff.
He is also survived by his grandchildren; Nick, Amanda, Tyler, Rachel, Chad, Matthew, Jaeden and great-grandchildren; Ryan, Natalya and Brielle; Eddy also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, extended family and friends; his beloved dog, Star and his two grand-puppies Bohdi and Luke.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Mike King, father and mother-in-law Alex and Barbara Madjoff.
Eddy lived his life his way and on his own terms. His November diagnosis with lewy body and frontotemporal dementia and ultimately his death, were no different. His illness progressed like his life, full of surprises; including many ups and downs. Surrounded by his family, he took the last six months in stride and to the end kept a smile on his face. Throughout his illness, he was lovingly cared for by his wife, Linda and for the last two months the staff at Clinton-Aire nursing home.
He always had a love for the outdoors and being near the water. If you asked him where he was most comfortable, he would have said in the woods hunting deer or sitting at a lake with a fishing pole in hand. He loved; working in the yard, fixing cars, cruising the back roads with a beer in hand or doing handyman work around the house.
His love of the water took him to Tawas, Mich., several times during the last 25 years to live and vacation. Many good times were had with friends there and throughout the area.
He always loved being with family and to take trips to the U.P., especially his hometown of Baraga. Just like he would want, the family is planning one last road trip with him to take him home and celebrate his life.
Family and friends are welcome to share food, a few beers, laughter and all of their great stories. As you know, those would be Eddy’s terms and exactly what he would want.
Please join us in a celebration of Eddy King’s life: June 22, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Bucks Marina in Baraga, Michigan.
