Pat’s rallies from 6-0 down, beats Stanton
HANCOCK – Pat’s Foods surrendered six runs to visiting Stanton in the second inning but came back for an 8-6 victory in Twilight League play Tuesday night.
Pat’s replied with two in the bottom of the second inning, then continued to chip away with single runs in the next three innings before taking the lead for good with a three-run sixth.
C.J. Lepisto grabbed the win in relief, throwing four innings and striking out four.
Pat’s put together 13 hits, with Lee Naugle and Clint Heikkila recording three apiece. Naugle doubled for all three of his hits and drove in two runs, while Heikkila was 3-for-4 with three RBIs.
Andrew Ewer and Brent Jurmu had two-hit games for the victors.
Johnny Raisanen’s three-run home run in the fifth inning turned the tide for BlueSky Health in a 4-3 come-from-behind Twilight League win over the L’Anse Lakers.
L’Anse put up three runs early for a lead it held into the fifth, but Raisanen’s homer tied it and an additional run in the sixth gave the hosts the win.
Owen Kariniemi pitched a complete game for the win.
Scott Gerzetich and Joey Richard had two hits apiece for L’Anse.
Tuesday’s results tighten up the league standings significantly. Stanton still leads at 7-3, but BlueSky (6-5) has closed to within a game and a half. Pat’s (4-4) is now in third by a full game over L’Anse (3-5) and 1 1/2 over idle Mosquito Inn-Toivola (3-6).
