James Bruce Wyllie
HANCOCK – James Bruce Wyllie, 66, of Hancock, died at his home on Monday evening, September 9, 2013 with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Hancock on August 21, 1947, to the late Bruce and Perena (Pera) Wyllie.
Jim graduated from Han- cock High School in 1965. He began his working career at McGann Building Supply in Hancock. He also worked at the Montgomery Ward Store, Bruce Lahti Construction, the White Pine Copper Mine, Hitch Engineering and most recently Superior Sand and Gravel.
He married Gloria Jean Jolly of Lake Linden on June 22, 1968 in St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Jim was a member of the Church of Resurrection in Hancock where he served as an usher. He was an advisor for the The Kappa Delta Fraternity at M.T.U. and spent many years on the Board of the Copper Country Band and Drill Team. Jim was also a people person and if he gave you a nickname, you were special to him. He loved his family and was especially proud of his granddaughters, Brittney and Bailey and many other kids he was close to.
Jim enjoyed woodworking and carpentry and often would help family and friends with building projects at their homes. He enjoyed designing and building projects, making his own decorations out of bowling balls and started every morning with a crossword puzzle.
Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Leo Jolly Sir. and his wife, Amanda; a cousin, Dennis Pera; brothers-in-law, Vernon Jolly, Leo Weldon “?Willy”? Jolly Jr., AlfredGerard and “?Tootsie”? sister-in-law, Paulette Roy; and a nephew, James Jolly.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria of Hancock; a daughter, Leann (Mark) Kirch-Gagnon of Ishpeming; granddaughters, Brittney and Bailey Kirch and Ashley Gagnon; his sister, Dianne; a cousin, Winifred “Honey”? Caviggiola and a special cousin, David Caviggiola; sisters-in-law, Joan Gerard, Mary Rose (Gordon) Moyle, Nancy Jolly and Mary Jane Jolly; many beloved nieces, nephews,cousins and friends. His pet dogs Junior (his therapy buddy) and Molly also survive.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the Church of the Resurrection with Rev. Fr. William Ssozi to officiate. Burial will be at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.
Friends may call on Friday at the O’Neill-Dennis Funeral Home in Hancock from 5 until 8 p.m. where a parish prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to his family.
