Stories should lead to more

To the editor:

It is to be hoped that the discussions prepared by Garrett and Steve will be just that – discussions. Then we, the readers, might see both sides of the topics raised.

The blossoming, expanding colleges and healthcare facilities, now our economic mainstays, will survive as long as the government subsidies last.

They are, in effect, upscale welfare programmes, with arrogance at the helm. Witness for example the way MTU handles the Lakeshore office space, the hospital refuses to acknowledge the presence of arsenic in the water supply, and the Kennecott retreat from the glowing picture they sold us. We look forward to discussion, young fellows! Thank you.
