Ellen S. (Hendrickson) Baltosser
TAPIOLA – Ellen S. (Hendrickson) Baltosser, 79, of Tapiola, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2013, in Marquette following a short illness.
She was born in Tapiola, on August 20, 1934, and attended the John A. Doelle School in Tapiola and graduated from high school in Montpelier, Ohio. She attended Huntington College in Huntington, Ind., receiving a Bachelors of Science degree in education.
Ellen taught school for thirty years starting at Roanoke, Ind., then Painesdale, followed by Edon, Ohio, ending her teaching career of 27 years with Bryan, Ohio.
Ellen had a lifelong passion of learning. She was very proud of her Finnish heritage and spent many hours delving into her family’s genealogy. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, greeting card making and scrap booking.
Ellen married Paul H. “Tom” Baltosser on June 28, 1958, in Montpelier, Ohio. They had one daughter, Jacqueline Renee. Jackie is married to Jimmy L. Borton and they reside in Morenci, Mich., with their son, Clayton. Ellen was very proud of her grandson, Clayton, and all of his accomplishments.
Ellen is also survived by her sister, Millie (Roger) Little of Calumet; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Tekla (Miller) Hendrickson.
Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, in the Pelkie Mennonite Church with Emanuel Bylar to officiate.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Family and friends of all denominations are welcome.
Burial will be on Saturday in the Floral Grove Cemetery in West Unity, Ohio.
