Violet J. Josephson

LAKE LINDEN – Violet J. Josephson, 89, of Lake Linden, passed away on October 18, 2013, at the Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium.

She was born in Lake Linden on August 15, 1924, a daughter of John and Diana (Massie) Rheaume. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School.

She was married to Arvid Josephson on January 31, 1947, in St. Joseph Church. He passed away in 1991.

Violet was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved dancing, cooking and spoiling her grandchildren. She had a unique gift to recognize and appreciate the inner beauty in everyone to make them feel loved.

Violet’s greatest achievements have been in the lives of her family and friends. Her compassion, kindness and radiant smile touched the lives of everyone. Her generous heart filled her home with love, laughter and warmth. She leaves all her children, grandchildren and siblings with knowledge that they were truly loved and adored. Her endless prayers touched their lives and her presence made life easier for everyone around her.

Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dotty St. Amour and Don Brouillette for their superior care and dedication to our beloved mother. We will always remember their warmth, compassion and wonderful ability to make “Violet” smile. A special thank you to Cindy Griffin, Dr. Bonnie Hafeman, Aspirus Keweenaw Home Health and Hospice and Houghton County Medical Care Facility for providing excellent care.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Robert and Ransom Rheaume; and a sister, Marie Rheaume.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda (Larry) LaHaie of Lake Linden; two sons, John Josephson of Linden, Mich., and Michael (Carrie) Josephson of Linden, Mich.; grandchildren, Ryan Tauriainen, Andy (Amy) Tauriainen, Jessica LaHaie, Jason Josephson, Jennifer (Matthew) Boyd, Julie (Larry) Jackson, James Josephson and Jeremy (Heather) Josephson; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Geraldine Blau, Katherine (Carl) Schmuhl, LeRoy (Gail) Rheaume and Betty Jean Wilshire; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, in the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with Fr. Abraham Mupparathara to officiate.

Visitation will be from Noon until 2 p.m. before the service in the funeral home.
