Aino M. Sotala

BOSTON LOCATION – Aino M. Sotala, 94, a resident of Boston Location, passed away Friday morning, October 25, 2013, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where she had been a resident patient for the past three months.

She was born on August 20, 1919, in Lac LaBelle, a daughter of the late John and Katheryn (Wesa) Loukus. Aino was raised in Old Colony and was a graduate of the Calumet High School.

On July 5, 1938, she was united in marriage to the former John Sotala. The couple had resided and farmed in various locations locally, before settling in Boston Location to make their home. In 1949 they moved to Milwaukee, where they resided until 1978 when Adams, Wis. became their home. After 54 years together, John preceded her in death on February 19, 1993. Since 2005 Aino has made her home in Boston Location.

Mrs. Sotala was a nurse while she resided in the Milwaukee area. One of Aino’s passions was to raise and show championship poodles. She also kept up to date with local and national news each day.

Aino was a member of the Houghton Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Preceding her in death were her husband; her infant daughter, Diana; her son, Martin Sotala; her parents; her brothers, Henry and Robert.

Surviving are her son, Dennis (Leslie) Sotala of Calumet; her daughter-in-law, Karen Sotala of Boston Lcation; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

As requested, no service will take place and burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock.
