Fall concert was a huge success
To the editor:
Saturday, October 26th, enthusiastic pre-Halloween revelers joined us for the annual Fall Concert, benefitting Omega House. The Garden City Hot Club Steve Jones, Bob Hiltunen, Scott McIntosh and Dan Fuhrmann – engaged the audience and brought dancers to the floor. During the second half, Michigan favorites Seth Bernard and May Erlewhine, joined by Michael Shimmin on percussion and Max Lockwood on bass, led the audience in a touching candlelit ceremony in remembrance of those who have lived before.
Our benefit events would not be possible without the support of our sponsors, volunteers and participants. Proceeds from this year’s concert, after expenses, brought in more than $4000, and will help ensure the continued delivery of our compassionate care to anyone in need.
Our sponsors included: Charles Ouellette and Bernadette Yoeman-Ouellette; Terry Kinzel and Sue Ellen Kingsley; Debbie Stouffer and Ed Kautto; Felix and Virginia Fournier; Walter and Cindy Mytty; Ray’s Polish Fire Hot Sauce; Mike and Wanda Kolb; Fred and Clare Gaff; Xmatic; Bob and Sarah Baratono; Cindy Griffin and Ray Kramer; Bucky Beach and Julie Belew; George Dewey and Andrea Puzakulich; Tim and Paula Huls; and Glenn Kauppila and Lisa Clouthier. Thanks also to Shelby Hamar and Magdalena Belej, who took time to come out and volunteer for the evening.
A silent auction, brought back by popular consent, took place throughout the evening. Thank you to the following: the Keweenaw Coop, Steve Brimm, Brockit Photo, Mary Ann Geda, The Wooden Spoon, the Continental Fire Company, Kenyon Hansen, Ray’s Polish Fire, Viki Weglarz, J. Jukuri Spa and Salon, the Einerlei, Chip and Cindy Ransom, and Hughes Farm.
Finally, thanks to the Continental Fire Company hosting this year’s fall benefit concert. We are grateful to Jon Julien, Tom and Adam Yoeman, Stephanie Tepkasetkul, Jordon Schultz and the entire crew for their support.
