Florence T. Heide

LAKE LINDEN – Florence T. Heide, 93, passed away on December 11, 2013, at Portage Pointe in Hancock.

Florence was born on August 5, 1920, a daughter of Stephen and Josephine Janiszeski, the third daughter of five. She grew up in the Spaulding-Hermansville area and attended Spaulding Schools.

She married Maurice Roberts in August of 1941; they made their home in Lake Linden. Maurice passed away in January of 1952. Florence then moved to Escanaba. She later returned to Lake Linden, residing there for a great part of her life. She married Randall Heide and he passed away in September of 1984.

Florence spent most of her life as a home-maker enjoying cooking and canning, she also took great pride in her 10 year career working as a nurse aide at Calumet Public Hospital until her retirement in 1984.

Florence lived in the Pewabic House at Portage Pointe in Hancock for nearly four years where she enjoyed interacting with her fellow residents and staff especially playing bingo and participating in gentle exercises.

Florence is survived by six children, Joan (Paul) Schick, Sharon (Gregg) Wallis, Randall (Gail) Roberts, Mary (Thomas) Paquette, William (Debbie) Heide and Christine (Ronald) Waara; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Maurice Roberts and Randall Heide; and two daughters, Rita Bernice Heide and Maureen (Roberts) Ramme.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon on Saturday in Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden with Father Francis Dobrzenski to officiate.

Visitation will be from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. on Saturday before the Mass in the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden.

Burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden.
