Kenneth A. Simonen

ST. MAARTEN, VIRGIN ISLANDS – Kenneth A. Simonen (Chinky), of Sherman Township, passed away at the age of 70 on December 3, 2013.

Ken was born in Detroit on December 8, 1943, a son of Doris and Wesley Simonen.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Anita B Simonen; two sons, Zachary Simonen of Duluth, Minn. and Spencer Simonen (Lynn) of Delafield, Wis.; grandsons, Ethan, Lucas and Wylie; and two brothers, James of Seattle, Wash. and Richard (Shelly) of Washington D.C. He will be greatly missed by all.

Ken enjoyed spending time with his family and friends (especially the Hermit’s Cove Crew). He spent long hours at his camp in Gay, burning wood and working on home improvements. He attended Lake Linden Schools, Michigan Tech and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Ken enjoyed traveling, hockey and playing golf with his brother-in-law, Glen.

Services have been private. His family and friends will be celebrating his life at the Gay Schoolhouse Pavilion on August 22, 2014, at 4 p.m. for a picnic and memorial.
