Carole Hoffman

CALUMET – Carole Hoffman, 79, passed away unexpectedly on December 26, 2013 at Marquette General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on September 7, 1934 in Laurium, a daughter of the late Theodore and Mildred (Niemala) Hook.

Carole graduated from the Calumet High School with the class of 1952. She was a proud graduate of Calumet High School and organized many of her class reunions. She loved listening to and watching the Calumet High School Band and always got tears in her eyes when they played the school fight song.

On September 20, 1952 she was married to Edward Hoffman and he preceded her in death in 2001.

She loved concerts in the park and pancake breakfasts with her special friends. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, building puzzles, crocheting, traveling, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and going to the gym with her daughter-in-law, Joan.

She served meals at Keweenaw Pines in Mohawk and at Calumet Senior Housing for over 15 years and worked up until Friday serving meals to her friends. She loved her job of serving meals and made many friends in the process.

Surviving are children, Robert (Joan) Hoffman of Calumet, Ruth (Walt) Selle of Midland, Mich., Kathleen (Peter) Zimmerman of Traverse City, Mich., Marilyn (Willie) Winkler of De Pere, Wis. and Phyllis (Ron) Williamson of Lake Linden; grandchildren, Jeff, Justin, Rachel, Eric, Scott, Philip, Ryan, Chad, Travis, Trevor and Megan; great grandchildren, Payton, Chloe, Isabel, Calvin and Jaylyn; sister, Karen Dorvinen of Traverse City, Mich.; in-law’s, Fran Hoffmann, John Hoffman and Robert and Mary Eaton; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet with Pastor Peter Vorhes.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. in the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home and on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. before the funeral.

Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.
