Bays girls pull away in fourth quarter

CHASSELL — Dollar Bay found the fourth-quarter surge necessary to put away Chassell and take their Copper Country Conference girls’ basketball game 51-38 Saturday.

The teams were tied late in the third quarter, but the Bays pulled away from there, scoring 20 points in the fourth quarter.

Julia Daavettila’s double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds led all players in both categories, but the Bays also got double-figure scoring from Meagan Kangas (13 points) and Jamie Sertich (10).

Chassell was led by 13 points from Kirsten Daavettila, including a pair of three-pointers.

The Bays, now 5-2 (3-1 CCC) travel to Lake Linden-Hubbell Tuesday night.

Chassell (3-5, 0-4 CCC) hosts rival Jeffers Tuesday.
