Hancock edged in overtime
SAULT STE. MARIE – Wade Hanke’s hat trick was only good enough to get the Hancock Bulldogs into overtime Friday, where Port Huron Northern grabbed a 6-5 win in the Cooper Dental Showcase.
Hanke had his hat trick by the 14:05 mark of the second period, with his third goal of the game tying it up at 4.
Alex Hill scored at 7:21 of the third to give the Bulldogs the lead, but it held up for only about four minutes, as Northern captain Brendan Shagena tied it with his second goal (and fourth point) of the game.
Shagena struck again in overtime, getting his hat trick goal and the game winner at 2:06 of overtime.
Brett Lepisto had a goal and two assists and William Lucier made 34 saves for the Bulldogs (7-6-2), who will play Canton today.
