Jeffers hockey handles L’Anse

HOUGHTON – L’Anse kept it interesting for most of the way, but the Jeffers hockey team was able to scratch out a 4-1 win Friday night at the SDC.

The Jets took an early lead when forward Nick Harris cashed in on a power play less than seven minutes into the game. Drew Morris and Anthony Harris picked up the assists.

L’Anse responded with a tally from Devon Bowers, but couldn’t hold the tie for even a minute as Stephen Butina lit the lamp late in the first period.

Defenseman Tylor Rickard added a third goal late in the second period and Morris capped the scoring midway through the third. Kevin Semmens, David Pollard, Tyler Bailey and Bill Kangas all made the scoresheet for Jeffers.

Dax Durocher and Jacob Zerbst split time in net for the Jets, combing to stop 20 of 21 shots. L’Anse goalie Michael Turunen turned away 36 shots for the game.
