CALUMET – Eleanor Bonenfant, 85, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the Cypress Manor Home where she resided for the past five years.
Eleanor was born on March 31, 1928, in Laurium, a daughter of Eugene and Viola Orth and was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Class of 1946.
She married Joseph Bonenfant on June 19, 1954, at Sacred Heart Church in Calumet. The couple resided on Rockland Street. Eleanor was a bookkeeper for the Mullen Dry Cleaning in Calumet. She was a babysitter for her grandchildren which she enjoyed with all her heart. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughters, JoAnn (Brian) Stark of Calumet and Jean (Chris) Dessellier of Traprock; sons, Mark (Cindy) of Laurium and Gary of Sault Ste Marie; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her lifetime neighbors, Basil and Cathy Sandretto; and her dear friends, Jan and Bud Baudino.
Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; sons, Paul and David; daughter-in-law, Cindy; brothers, Eugene and Bobby; sisters, Clarice, Viola and twin sister, Evelyn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2014, in the Sacred Heart Church in Calumet with Rev. Fr. Paul Manderfield to officiate.
Friends may call at the Ryan Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 5th from 5 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the Funeral Mass in the Sacred Heart Church.
A vigil service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
