Francis John Yaniskivis

RIPLEY – Francis John Yaniskivis, 63, of Ripley, passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, February 13, 2014, following an apparent heart attack.

He was born on April 18, 1950 to John and Esther Yaniskivis. He graduated from Houghton High School. He attended MTU for a short time before he signed up for the Marines and served during the Vietnam Conflict. He came home and shortly after, met the love of his life, Sandra Perry Yaniskivis.

He worked for many years at Great Lakes Plastic and filled in with his Dad at Johns Lock Shop in his free time. He enjoyed getting together with family and grilling out, collecting coins and was a gun enthusiast. As a young man he enjoyed weight lifting and long rides on the back roads.

He is preceded in death by his dad, John and mom, Esther Yaniskivis; his son, Caleb; and a step-brother, Eric Jurgensen.

He is survived by his best friend, Sandra Yaniskivis; his daughters, Danielle and Dan Kempton of Kingsford, Mich., Heather and Jim Brown of L’Anse; and his son, Josh and Michelle Yaniskivis of Appleton, Wis.; his three sisters, Margaret Wojcik Yaniskivis, Carolyn and George Michaelson, Kathy and Mark Ruge; and one brother, Joe Yaniskivis; his grandchildren, Haley, Kylene, Taylor, Caleb and Jack; his step-mother, Sonya Yaniskivis; a step-brother, Garth Jurgensen; a step-sister, Laura Jurgensen; and his niece, Amanda.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, in the Jehova’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall on Quincy hill near Paavola.

Friends may call for an hour before the services at the Kingdom Hall.
