H/H girls’ ski team second at state final

HARBOR SPRINGS – The Houghton/Hancock girls’ ski team was edged by seven points for the Division 2 title in MHSAA State Finals competition Monday at Nub’s Nob.

Bloomfield Hills Marian took home the team title with 74 points, 38 in slalom and 36 in giant slalom. H/H had 81, 39 in slalom and 42 in giant slalom.

Three locals skied into the top 10 in slalom led by a fourth from Jenna Stein. Leslie Hamar took fifth and Martine Lovaas ninth.

In the GS, Hamar finished sixth and Lovaas 10th. Stein led after the first run but did not finish the second.

On the boys’ side, Jacob Jarvis finished 18th in slalom and 22nd in giant slalom competing as an individual.
