CopperDog start time pushed back
CALUMET – To compensate for cold temperatures, the Saturday leg of the fifth annual CopperDog 150 race will begin an hour later.
Saturday’s start time in Eagle Harbor has been moved from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., said volunteer coordinator Brian Donnelly. The race-related volunteer jobs Saturday will also be pushed back by an hour.
“The reason we did that is to give the dogs that’ll be racing Friday night a little bit more time to recover, given the cold temperatures,” Donnelly said.
Other days of the race are unaffected by the announcement. It also won’t change the schedule for Saturday events CopperDog is putting on in downtown Calumet, Donnelly said.
The race begins on 5th Street in Calumet at 7 p.m. tonight and continues until 8:40 p.m. on Fifth Street. Other events tonight include the pre-race opening ceremony at 6:30 p.m. on Scott and Fifth Street and a fireworks display in Agassiz Park at 8:50 p.m., as well as a block party, street vendors and special restaurant offerings.
