Heikinpäivä, a huge success

The Finnish Theme Committee of Hancock wishes to extend a warm and hearty thank you to everyone made Heikinpiv 2014 a great success. Despite the bitter cold the coffee was hot and hearts warmed. As the folk saying goes, winter’s back is broken and we’ve made the best of winter in true Copper Country style. In particular, we want to thank the City of Hancock, Finlandia University, Will Williams and the Finlandia baseball team, Curt Hahka and his crew, Bill Marlor and the Hancock Department of Public Works, Zion Lutheran, Gloria Dei Lutheran, the United Methodist Church of Hancock, Dollar Bay-Tamarack City Public Schools, the Daily Mining Gazette, WOLV Radio, WMPL Radio, Eagle Radio, WLUC-TV6, Sarah Blakley, Shawn Householder, Dan and Ardys Maki, Marja Kilpela, Norma Nominelli, Kris and Linda Kyro, Arvo Onermaa, Johnny Newman, Keith Anderson, Wesley Byykkonen, the MTU Aquanauts, Aramark, Mercy Ambulance, Jo Kirkish, Calumet Theatre, Jo Lorichon, Lennon Hughes, Karin Van Dyke, Habaneros Restaurant and the many people who participated in our classes, events and market tori!
