Fern Ruth Cadeau

WAUSAU, Wis. – Fern Ruth Cadeau was 79 years old when the good Lord called her to come rest beside her husband, Gabriel, on March 10, 2014.

She was born May 19, 1934, in Marquette, to John and Margaret McMaster.

After Fern married Joseph Gabriel Cadeau (Gabe) they lived briefly in California. To be closer to family they moved to Pelkie. As their family grew they moved to Topaz, Mich., where she raised 11 children.

She was dedicated to her family. They were members of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bergland, Mich. Fern enjoyed gardening, swimming, playing cards, reading, crocheting, knitting, baking, bargain shopping, animals, camping and fishing. In her younger days she rode the horses and motorcycles and in her later years she cruised around town on her scooter. Fern had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling in her later years.

Surviving are her 11 children, 20 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; Linda (Chuck) Hulstrom (Dustin (Kristen) and Owen), Beth Kendall (John and Michelle), Scot Cadeau, Marge Warner (Keenan, Logan and Colin), Kathryn Cadeau (Joshua, Barrie, Robbie (Kim) and Chas), Gabriel (Diane) Cadeau (Jacob, Lucinda and Zach), Chris Cadeau, Mary Brady (Nicole and Janice), Lisa Cadeau (Justin and Norman), Diane Cadeau (Porsha) and Brian Cadeau (Cody).

Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 17, 2014, in St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Baraga with Father Nick Thompson, celebrant.

The visitation will be at Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse on Sunday, March 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. Deacon John Cadeau will conduct a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Spring burial will take place in the Baraga Cemetery.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family suggests contributions be directed to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

The family has entrusted the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with the arrangements.
