Haiti mission team thankful

To the Editor:

The Haiti mission team from Grace United Methodist church hosted the second annual Chili cook-off and Silent Auction this last Saturday.

This event would never have been possible without the help of the local businesses and restaurants.

This generous group showed true copper country spirit and support for the primary school we support in rural Haiti. The seven contenders for the “People’s Choice” best chili gave of their time and skills and we want to thank The Loading Zone, The Library, The Waterfront, Habaneros, Pilgrim River, Roy’s Bakery and our winner The Rock House Grill. We also want to thank all the local merchants who put our posters in their windows including many who supported our Silent Auction with donated merchandise or valuable gift certificates.

These include Pizza Works, Magic Kiln, Hancock Bike Shop, Northwoods Sporting Goods, Celebrations, Fiber Whims, Good Times Music, The Lunch Bag, Cyberia Caf, Your Crazy Place, Sew Sisters, Joey’s Seafood, Suomi Bakery, Quincy Footwear, MM Power Sports, Sherwin Williams, Victoria’s Kitchen, and University Images.

As we say in Haiti “Mesi anpil”, thank you very much.
