Killer whales want to say ‘thank you’

To the editor:

It is with sincerest appreciation, I thank the following organizations on behalf of all of the swimmers and families of the Copper Country Killer Whales competitive swim team for their support during the past swim season which included supporting two swim meets: to the brothers of Phi Kappa Tau, we truly appreciate their commitment to the team at both meets from helping lay out mats to timing and manning concessions; to the cadets of the AFROTC Detachment 400 of Michigan Tech and members of the Arnold Air Society, we greatly appreciate their dedication at both meets, helping time, marshal swimmers, and fill in the gaps where we ran short; to the coaches of the team who juggle their college studies and other commitments with those of the team and help better our swimmers technique and times, and to the following local businesses for their financial support during both meets, Aspirus Keweenaw, McDonalds, Statewide Real Estate of Houghton, and Volwerth and Baroni Companies.

These wonderful businesses helped lighten the financial burden and we are grateful for their kindness.

Additionally, I’d like to thank EconoFoods for their support via their “Econo Cares” program and bagging opportunities. We will miss Colin, and look forward to working with Jason.

As team manager, I would be remiss if I did not thank the parents of our athletes for supporting their swimmer(s) and the team.

We would not have this wonderful program if it weren’t for their continuing efforts.
