Myles “Jud” Gregorich

LAURIUM – Myles “Jud” Gregorich, 74, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2014, at his home following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Trimountain, a son of Antonia and Marion (Myles) Gregorich.

He moved to Phoenix as a youth and graduated from Calumet High School in 1957. He married Susan Solmonson in 1962. The couple lived in Adrian, Mich., for one year before purchasing the Phoenix Store. He later operated the Cliff View Resort with his stepfather, Thomas Stiglich and mother, Antonia until his retirement in 2000.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; and daughter, Cindy (Don) Schuler of Bristol, Conn.; son, Myles of Aurora, Ill.; brother, Stephen (Sharon) of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.; one granddaughter, Amelia Schuler; and one grandson, Ben Schuler; nephew, Nathan (Rena) Gregorich; and great-nephew, Karson Gregorich; and special godson, Tony Coppo; brother-in-law, Paul (Susan) Solomonson; and sisters-in-law, Jean Buschell and Gale Solmonson; aunt, Lorraine Butkovich; and Uncle, Alex Butkovich; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonia and Marion (Myles); and his stepfather, Thomas Stiglich; and sister, Carol Marie.

Myles served in the Michigan National Guard and was a member of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Laurium.

Private family funeral services are planned for Monday, March 24, at 11 a.m. in the Ryan Funeral Home with officiating Pastor James Fundum.

A special event of sharing memories of Jud is planned for sometime this summer.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church roof fund or the Aspirus Keweenaw Home Health and Hospice.
