Inmate walks from work crew, captured
HOUGHTON – A Houghton County inmate is back in custody after walking away from a work crew for close to six hours Monday.
Troy Roberts, 26, was working at the Houghton Department of Public Works garage about 12:10 p.m. when he left custody. He was recaptured in Baraga County about 5:45 p.m. by the Michigan State Police and Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Tribal Police.
No information was available this morning regarding Roberts motive for escaping.
Roberts, a Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Tribal Court inmate, was at the work camp for a probation violation. He is back in the Houghton County Jail.
Additional charges stemming from the escape are still being worked on.
