Vietnam Moving Wall Committee looking for help
LAURIUM – There are 16 men from Houghton and Keweenaw counties named on the Vietnam Moving Wall, and the local committee needs to find any relatives of five of those men before the wall returns to the Copper Country this summer.
Don Bausano, who is a member of the 2014 Houghton/Keweenaw County Moving Wall Committee, said the committee has had trouble tracking down any relatives of five local men named on the wall. They realize parents of those men probably aren’t alive, but there may be other relatives still living.
“If the guy had a brother or a sister, that’s a possibility,” he said. “We don’t know where to look.”
Local sources and the Veterans Administration have been contacted without success, Bausano said.
The five men, date of birth and where they were from are: Alan Douglas Fredrickson, July 8, 1946, Houghton; James R. Long, Jan. 8, 1936, Hancock; Dennis W. Marcotte, July 23, 1947, Hancock; David J. Pellosma, April 22, 1946, Atlantic Mine; and Willis C. Rheault, July 1, 1945, Lake Linden.
Bausano said from July 10 to 14, the Moving Wall will be at Legion Field in Calumet, and it’s important to find as many relatives as possible to attend the event.
“I’d hate to have this here and one or two (relatives) we cannot find,” he said. “We don’t want to leave anybody out.”
Anyone with information about the five men listed, should call Bausano at 906-337-5395, or 906-281-2110.
