Phyllis A. Hill

OBENHOFF – Phyllis A. Hill, 67, a resident of Obenhoff, passed away on Saturday, April, 12, 2014.

She was born in Laurium, on September, 19, 1946, a daughter of the late Edward and Bertha (Manuelson) Siirtola.

Phyllis graduated from the Dollar Bay High School in 1964, and from Michigan State University in 1968.

Her entire career was in education with the Adams Township School District, working at the South Range Elementary School.

On August 29, 1970, she was married to Paul M. Hill in Houghton.

Phyllis was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hancock. She enjoyed crafting and reading and loved spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, Paul of Obenhoff; a daughter, Jodi Orent of Eveleth, Minn.; a son, Michael (Heather) Hill of Laurium; three grandchildren, Austin and Elizabeth Koch, and Carter Orent; one brother, David (Lani) Siirtola of Franklin Twp.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, Phyllis was also preceded in death by a sister, Karen Chapin.

A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2014, in the Zion Lutheran Church in Hancock, with Pastor Jesse Aho to officiate.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Spring burial will be in the Atlantic Mine Cemetery.
