Brody Ronald Etelamaki
CHASSELL – Brody Ronald Etelamaki earned his angel wings on April 15, 2014, with his family by his side.
Brody was born on December 17, 2009, in Hancock. Although his life on earth was much too short, he touched many lives throughout his courageous year-long battle with brain cancer. He was a fighter and fought until the end with a contagious smile on his face.
Brody enjoyed the outdoors, camping with his family, driving his 4-wheeler, playing with his trucks, helicopters, trains and hot wheels, telling knock-knock jokes and watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He enjoyed wrestling with his brother and playing on the trampoline with his sisters. Brody could often be seen in the stroller with his teddy bear “Boo” by his side on walks with his mommy, but he especially loved going for rhino rides with his daddy and their dogs. Brody captured the hearts of everyone who met him and will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
Brody is survived by his loving parents, Douglas and Tanya Etelamaki; a brother, Ryan; three sisters, Madeline, Ally and Lily; maternal grandparents, Ronald and Joan Dostaler; paternal grandparents, John and Mavina Etelamaki; paternal great-grandparents, Tauno and Mae Etelamaki; uncles, Todd Dostaler, David (Kelly) Dostaler, David (Christi) Etelamaki, Dan (Sarah) Etelamaki; aunts, Sarah (Kevin) Kennerly, Sabina (Kevin) Carlson; and numerous cousins and friends.
Friends may call on Monday, April 21, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Saints Peter and Paul Lutheran Church in Houghton.
A celebration of life service with Pastor Aaron Gehrke officiating will begin immediately following the visitation, followed by a luncheon. Burial will be later this spring in the Chassell Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their thanks for all the prayers and support that they received during Brody’s battle with brain cancer. They vow to spread awareness for pediatric cancer and in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the foundation that they are in the process of setting up in Brody’s memory for pediatric brain cancer research.
Arrangements are being handled by the Jukuri-Antila Funeral Home of Hancock, Antila Funeral Service, Inc.
