William E. Wiita

BOOTJACK – William E. Wiita, 84, of Bootjack, passed away at his home on April 16, 2014.

He was born on February 28, 1930 a son of John and Marion (Wuokkila) Wiita.

William attended Lake Linden-Hubbell Schools. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked for his father in the family fishing business. Later, he did tool and dye work in Lower Michigan. Upon his retirement, he returned to the Copper Country to make his home in Bootjack.

He was married to Elaine “Penny” Pflugi on January 16, 1960.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jack.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; son, Christopher David Wiita of Alaska; daughter, Rebecca Lynn Wiita of Rochester, Mich.; two brothers; and two sisters; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The Funeral Liturgy will be at 7 p.m. on Monday in the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with Fr. Francis Dobrzenski to officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 until the start of the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden.
