HOUGHTON – Police said a suspect in a Friday domestic situation and high-speed chase is still at large.

Travis Koupus, 26, was allegedly involved in a domestic situation at Walmart about 6:30 p.m. He then fled the scene after striking a vehicle in the parking lot, leading police on a chase of up to 90 miles an hour. The chase wound through Houghton and Hancock onto M-26, police said. For the public’s safety, police stopped the pursuit in Dollar Bay because of Koupus’s erratic driving.

“We believe he’s north of the bridge, because that’s where we last saw him,” Houghton Police Chief John Donnelly said this morning. “We haven’t had anything to believe he’s south of the bridge.”

At the time of the chase, Koupus was driving a black 1999 Chevrolet 1500 extended cab pickup truck with Michigan license plate BBV 4060.

He is 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 160 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Koupus was previously arrested on several outstanding warrants in September after eluding police for several weeks.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Houghton Police Department at 487-5912 or 911.
