LAURIUM – Florence Hodges, 93, a resident of the Houghton County Medical Care Facility, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014.
She was born on on November 9, 1920, in Superior, Wis., a daughter of the late Nester and Ida (Johnson) Patana.
On August 9, 1941, she was united in marriage to Richard Hodges and he preceded her in death on April 24, 2008.
Florence moved to the Copper Country in 1945, and from 1960 to 1982 she was employed at Calumet Public Hospital as a nurse.
She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church and was active with the ladies aid and the quilters.
Preceding her in death was her son, Richard (Dorothy) Hodges; and her half brother, Richard Patana.
Surviving are son, Robert Hodges of Marquette; grandchildren, Richard “Duke” (Claudia) Hodges III, Douglas (Kristina) Hodges, David (Kathleen) Hodges, Heather (Todd) Gooding and Ryan Hodges; great grandchildren, Rebecca, Sarah, Martha, Hannah, Quinn, Chase; half brothers, John (Brenda) Patana of Rapid River; half sister, Kristina (Eino) Miilu of Mass City; half sister-in-law, Sandra Patana of Houghton Canal; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at noon in the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet with Pastor Peter Vorhes to officiate.
Friends may call at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m..
Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery.
